In legal trouble? Better Call Saul!

The inspiration for this print comes from one of my favourite TV shows at the moment ‘Breaking Bad’ for those who haven’t seen it I highly recommend you give it a try! Saul Goodman is VERY unethical lawyer, but very good at helping his criminal clients off the hook, plus he’s very funny too!

This 2 colour hand pulled screen print measures 42cm x 59cm (approx) and is printed on 250gsm Annigoni acid free art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 150 so once they’re gone they’re gone.

The Big Lebowski

A print that’s inspired by two of my favourite things Kahlua and The Big Lebowski. For the few of you that don’t know the Dude is a character from the film ‘The Big Lebowski’ played by the great Jeff Bridges and I probably shouldn’t admit this but the Dude is a bit of a personal role model of mine ;-)  I can often be found wearing my dressing gown and slippers during the day, as well as other traits!

So here is my tribute to a great film and character. Perfect for any home, it will really tie the room together man!

This 3 colour hand pulled screen print measures 50cm x 70cm (approx) and is printed on 250gsm Annigoni acid free art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 150 so once they’re gone they’re gone.

Greeting Cards for the Geeks in your life!

After many requests I’ve finally got round to printing a set of 5 greeting cards based on some of my print designs.

Hand printed onto a natural white 250gsm art stock. The colour is a very dark pearlescent grey/black, I use high quality, nontoxic, water based ink, so they are environmentally friendly.

The cards measure 5” x 5″, each are initialed and are blank inside, come with a matching envelope and are enclosed in a clear cellophane sleeve for protection.

The set of 5 cards includes:
1 x Captains Log design.
1 x Convention design.
1 x Homeless Trooper design.
1 x Alert design.
1 x Disguise design.

Film & Print!

This month saw the culmination of a joint project between members of the Leicester Print Workshop and SevenFive Productions. The project was designed as an opportunity for cross pollination, skills sharing and creative collaboration between filmmakers and printmakers. There was a premier at the Phoenix Cinema in Leicester – an exhibition and screening of work produced by LPW printmakers and local filmmakers working in collaboration.

I was paired with film maker Thomas Tyrrell. We decided to make a promo video of sorts showing my working process from sketching the idea through to final print making. You can see the film here:

It was a full house! Below me and Tom enjoying the free wine!

The Boss

The title say’s it all, one of my favourite singer songwriters of all time and the first vinyl single I ever bought (Glory Days). Based on a previously done canvas piece I did a while a go, now available as a very limited run of screen prints. Enjoy!

This 3 colour hand pulled screen print measures 50cm x 50cm (approx) and is printed on 270gsm acid free art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of only 50 so once they’re gone they’re gone.

The Kids are alright

Yesterday I was invited back to my old school Rawlins by my dear friend Hayley Fern to show her after school art club a selection of my work. They were a very lovely group of 5-8 year olds and I think they liked some of my stuff, although it was sad that they didn’t know who William Shatner was :-(

Weasley’s Wheezes!

I’ve been wanting to do a screen print based on Harry Potter for sometime now, but I couldn’t think of an approach that was a bit different and unique. Then when I was doing some research for a completely different project I came across some images of old victorian advertising and was inspired. So here is my tribute to great series of books and films. Enjoy.

This one colour hand pulled screen print measures 50cm x 70cm (approx) and is printed on acid free 250gsm BFK Reeves Tan art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 500 so as always, once they’re gone they’re gone.

Leicester 24 Open Art Exhibition

Yesterday I attended the private view for the Leicester 24th annual open art exhibition at the New Walk Museum in which I’ve got two of my prints on display.

During the evening there was a presentation of awards downstairs, I decided to stay upstairs chatting to fellow artists as I never win anything at these things but much to my surprise I had won two prizes and so missed my brief time in the spotlight doh!

The first was two tickets to see a show at DeMontfort Hall the second was from the magazine Dusk2Dawn who are offering me exposure in the form of a video interview on their website. I’ve not won an art prize since primary school so I was very chuffed indeed so big thanks to DeMontfort Hall and Jon Prest from Seed Creativity.

The exhibition runs until the 7th April at the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, detail can be seen here: http://www.leicester.gov.uk/open24

Passion 2 Print

Hello all!

Well it’s beginning to get busy in the run up to Christmas and I should have some new prints to show you soon! I’ve also had two of my latest prints selected for the Leicester Passion 2 Print Exhibition! I was very chuffed that they picked both of my entries.

Passion2Print is Leicester Print Workshop’s biennial celebration of contemporary fine art printmaking. Exclusively featuring the work of LPW artists, it is a high-quality showcase for printmaking today. Reflecting its partnership with Embrace Arts and Oundle International Festival, the exhibition will explore ideas around storytelling in music.

The exhibition runs from 8th October 2012 – 7th December 2012 at Embrace Arts, formerly the Richard Attenborough Centre, based on Lancaster Road in Leicester, about 15 mins walk from Leicester Print Workshop, Leicester City Centre and the Railway Station. Kissing Troopers

This 2 colour hand pulled screen print measures 34cm x 42cm (approx) and is printed on acid free 270gsm art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 250 so as always once they’re gone they’re gone.

Sometimes You Get What You Need

This is another print I did with the theme of Story telling in music. The Rolling Stones have always been a favourite band of mine and this is one of their classics. I think the quote is very apt especially in these days of austerity.

This 2 colour hand pulled screen print measures 42cm x 59cm (approx) and is printed on acid free 270gsm art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 150 so as always once they’re gone they’re gone.

High Fidelity

I did this print for an up-coming exhibition of prints with the theme of Story telling in music. High Fidelity is one of the few films I’ve seen that I’ve also read the book from which it was based and both are excellent! This is a quote from the book that has always stuck with me, as like most teenagers (and adults) I was prone to listening to music that could be described as melancholy when I was feeling feeling down, which I’m sure didn’t help!

This 3 colour hand pulled screen print measures 42cm x 59cm (approx) and is printed on acid free 270gsm art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 150 so as always once they’re gone they’re gone.

6th London Burlesque Festival

On Saturday I went to the Brush with Burlesque art exhibition at the East Gallery in Brick Lane, London where my Burlesque Festival print was on display and sale. It was a really good exhibition with a great mix of styles and artists. It was also very nice to meet the organisers Mark and Sarah Bell, so a big thanks to them for exhibiting my print!

Afterwards I attended a show at the 6th London burlesque festival, courtesy of two comp tickets from the organiser Chaz Royal, so thank you to you too!

Had a great time the show was excellent, below are some pics from the night, more are on my Facebook page too.

6th Annual London Burlesque Festival!

In partnership with the acclaimed producer and burlesque pioneer, Chaz Royal, I’ve designed and hand printed a souvenir poster for the London Burlesque Week 7-13th May.

This 1 colour hand pulled screen print measures an impressive 50cm x 70cm (approx) and is printed on a Gold 250gsm Peregrina Majestic art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 100 so as always once they’re gone they’re gone. They will be available to buy at the event and if there are any left over they will also be made available to buy online.

“The London audience is a mix of regular cabaret enthusiasts and curious newcomers, who appreciate the finest in burlesque performers as well as sheer glamour and tastefully risqué entertainment. We help develop the most talented new and established performers, right through from the avant garde to erotic, sexy circus artists, exposing them to an international stage and the acclaim of diverse audiences. It’s the biggest and best burlesque event in terms of performers and spectators ever to be brought to England’s great capital city. London Burlesque Week is full of colour, panache and excitement and is simply the greatest showcase of international burlesque talent on Earth.” - Chaz Royal

Thou Shall Not Pass!

So I thought it was time that I took a break from Science fiction and take a look at my other favourite genre Fantasy, and what example better than Lord of the Rings? I never read the books, as being dyslexic I’m not much of a reader but thanks to Peter Jackson I now don’t have too. There’s also a little nod to The Beatles in there too!

This 3 colour hand pulled screen print measures 43cm x 34cm (approx) and is printed on acid free 315gsm Heritage art stock. Each print is signed & numbered and is strictly limited to an edition of 250 so as always once they’re gone they’re gone.
